“Please leave your cow and beardogs outside to guard the pickup.”
Suffice to say, no one does cowboys and country like Wyoming; and Two Ocean Books is a prime example of everything good and great from the Old West. Located in Historic Dubois, Wyoming, Two Ocean Books is an independently owned bookstore indicative of cowboys, great literature and grand old Wyoming pride.
Owned and run by the self proclaimed very independent woman herself, Julie Elliot knows a thing or two about books, bookselling and cowboys. And it’s no surprise that she’s made it clear that ten gallon hats, horse riding and the overall cowboy lifestyle isn’t just for the boys. A proud lady in the great west, Julie runs Two Ocean Books with a sharp mind and a kind heart.
“Crowned” in 1958 as the Silver Spur Junior Rodeo Queen, Julie Elliot, now the Cowboy Bookseller has had cowboys, rodeos and the influence of the old west in her blood since birth. It’s clear how passionate she is about bringing that love to others through her inventory and how she runs her store.
Though Two Ocean Books has enough books to fill ‘two oceans’ (with a variety to boot) the selection is mainly focused around…you guessed it, Westerns. Followed closely by regional authors, field guides, best sellers, children’s books and bibles.
Staying true to Wyoming’s values, Two Ocean Books is firm in the fact that community comes first, and as such, Julie Elliot participates in a wide variety of community activities and events on behalf of Two Ocean Books.
I suppose many of us have dreamed of being a muse – an inspiration for another’s work. I have. –Julie
Like most independent bookstores, it is apparent that Two Ocean Books understands the importance of both the writer and the reader. Celebrating local authors constantly, they create events and opportunities for fans to meet the author.
Unafraid to bridge the gap that may seperate people, be it two streets or two oceans, Two Ocean Books is a pillar in the community and Dubois wouldn’t be the same without this amazing cowboy bookstore.
