Schuler Books & Music in Grand Rapids has been a pivotal business in the Michigan state for quite some time now; almost 34 years to be exact. Founded in 1982, this grand store now has a whopping five locations, all of whom have the size and selection to be the largest independently owned bookstores across the nation.

Bill and Cecile Fehsenfeld share a passion for reading and community involvement and it was these shared interests that led this awesome husband and wife team to open the first Schuler Books in 1982. Since it’s start in the early 80’s, Schuler Books & Music has truly grown and branded itself as a business that knows books and how to utilize said books, in order to make people happy.

Each of the five locations now boasts a large selection of music, DVDs, unique gift items, and last but most certainly not least, a full-service, gourmet café chock full of delicious food and drink. Hungry? Schuler Books offers their customers to try any of their home made options from their menu. Full of variety, Schuler’s Chapbook Cafe offers anything from delicious soups to mouthwatering sandwiches and quiches. Ready to for a day on the go? Try their double shot espresso, or cool down with one of their refreshing Italian sodas. Whatever it is you choose, at Schuler’s Chapbook Cafe, it is guaranteed to be delicious and satisfying.

While Schuler has much to offer in terms of satisfying their customers physical palette, they are more than capable of satisfying their customers intellectual palettes as well. With a huge selection of books, from all different genres including historical, music, even internet stardom and pop culture. They even have an ebook section that is infallible in making it’s readers happy. With a selection diverse enough to satisfy any bibliophile, Schuler Books & Music has had a loyal fanbase for decades.

Like most independent bookstores, Schuler Books & Music understands the importance that a bookstore can have on a community; and as such, they provide their customers and community with a variety of events, sessions and clubs. With a fantastically united group of people, Schuler Books offers numerous book clubs hosting books over a mass amount of subjects and themes. As well, they deal with community service activities, school fundraising and both a consignment and affiliate program for those interested!
