Looking for a unique bookstore?
Try the Elliott Bay Book Company set in the heart of Seattle. This amazing family owned, independent book company was established in 1973 in Pioneer Square. The original two room store was moved in 1973 so that it could eventually expand into something larger. In 1979 the Elliot Bay Café was made an edition to the already fun filled shop. The café features all sorts of yummy goodies to indulge in while you sit and read your books. The store had to be moved in 2010 to Capitol Hill, the café followed the relocation of the store a month after the new store was opened.
Every month there is a list of author readings that they host. Some nights they have novels read, other times there is poetry being read. It is never boring in this independent bookstore. Some of the authors they feature are very prominent authors. Other authors they feature weren’t as well known when they first began their reading sessions but went on to become bigger and better.
One of the best features of their website is that it has a book review that their staff writes. It can help customers narrow down a search for what they may be looking for in the next book they want to read. Their staff is ready and willing to help in any way that they can.
The store features hundreds of books in a variety of styles and genres. There is never a moment when a customer will feel as if they just cannot seem to find a good book. You will never leave unhappy from this pleasant bookstore. Their staff is there to help you. They are a well read and pleasantly cheerful staff.
A great event they have coming up is the children’s story time, which goes on every Saturday at 11 am. The store even has a summer reading program for children aging from 6-14. It is a great place for your children to come, learn, and even meet new friends.
This family fun centered bookstore is one of the best independent bookstores with all that they feature. No other bookstore offers as many books or is so helpful! Stepping into this reader’s paradise is such a treat if you go once then you are bound to never stop.
If you love Seattle and all that entails then this bookstore needs to be on the top of your list because it is by far an amazing place to spend an afternoon. It is warm, cozy, and inviting. There is nothing about it that you will not fall in love with the instant you step through the doors.
